HTML Table to CSV mini guide
Convert an HTML table to CSV. Select a table, choose delimiters and control rowspan and colspan with repeated or blank covered cells.
How to use HTML Table to CSV
- 1Paste HTML source containing tables, or choose Load sample.
- 2Select Find tables, choose a Table, Output delimiter and Merged cells policy.
- 3Select Convert, inspect Output and copy or download the selected table as CSV.
What it is good for
- • Extract a table from copied HTML source.
- • Select one table from a multi-table document.
- • Choose how merged cells become CSV cells.
Example
Input
<table><tr><th>Name</th><th>City</th></tr><tr><td>Alice</td><td>Paris</td></tr></table>
Output
Name,City Alice,Paris
Rules and limitations
Find tables enumerates table elements from the supplied markup. Select the table you need; conversion defaults to the first table. Each row emits its cell text, with headers treated as ordinary first-row values. The tool does not fetch webpages or evaluate scripts.
Rowspan and colspan reserve a grid of covered cells. Blank covered cells places the value only at the top-left origin; Repeat value fills the entire span. Reject merged cells produces an error if any span needs handling. A rowspan of zero covers the remaining rows in its row group.
Text is extracted from the selected cells and quoted using the chosen CSV delimiter. Uneven rows are padded to the widest row. Tables beyond 1,000 columns or 10,000 rows are rejected, and source input is limited to 1 MB characters.
Common problems
Paste actual HTML containing table tags, not a webpage URL. CSS grids and visual layouts without table markup cannot be inferred as tables.
Nested table rows are excluded from the outer row list, but their visible text can appear inside the parent cell. Overlapping merged spans are rejected rather than silently overwriting a value.
Frequently asked questions
Can I choose between multiple tables?
Yes. Select Find tables and choose the relevant table.
How are merged cells handled?
Choose blank covered cells, repeated values or rejection of merged cells.
Are links or images preserved?
Only text content is exported. Link URLs and image pixels are not CSV values.
Does it retrieve a webpage for me?
No. Paste its HTML source; remote fetching is not part of this tool.
Is my input uploaded or saved?
This tool processes input in your browser and does not save its input or output to local storage. Copy and download are user actions. The site uses analytics for page and action metadata and may use ads and production error reporting; see the Privacy Policy for those services.
